How to Bid

Looking to source materials? Bidding on a variety of waste and recycled commodities on the WasteTrade Marketplace is a quick an straightforward process.

First, you must be logged into your WasteTrade account. If you don’t yet have an account with us, setting one up takes only a few minutes. Click here to register.
Once logged in, click on the ‘Buy’ tab at the top of your screen. This will take you directly to the marketplace.

Here, you will be able to view all the listings of the different materials available for purchase on WasteTrade. You can browse through the listings or filter them by material type, location, and more. Here, you will have the chance to ask for more information about the listing or request samples of the material.

When you are ready to make an offer on a listing, click ‘Bid On Material’. At this point, a new window will appear where you can enter your bid and click ‘Submit Bid’.

1. Select your material

Our filters enable you to remove any listings that are not relevant to you from view. You can filter by material group, type, location, storage methods, and more.

This eliminates any wasted time that would be spent scrolling through the many pages of our marketplace looking at each listing one by one to find the commodities that are of interest to you.

2. Bid on the material

Once you have found the material you would like to buy, click on the ‘Bid On Material’ Button.

This will open up a new window where you can enter the details of your bid. These details will include the price you are offering, the location you want the commodities delivered to, delivery dates, how long the offer is valid for, and more. Enter this information, then click ‘Submit Bid’.

3. Pending approval - Accept or Reject

Once you have submitted your bid, we will notify the seller of the offer so they can review it and decide whether to accept or reject it. You can view the status of all your bids in Dashboard but going to ‘My Offers’, then ‘Buying‘.

If the seller rejects your offer, you will have the opportunity to amend your bid and re-submit it. If the seller accepts your offer, the listing will automatically feed into the WasteTrade haulage platform where we will arrange the transport and generate all customs documents for you.

4. Offer Rejected

If you see ‘Seller Rejected’ next to one of your bids, this means that the seller has decided not to accept your offer. There are a variety of reasons why a seller may choose to reject an offer, such as the offer price not meeting their requirements, or the delivery window not being achievable.

If you find that one of your bids has been rejected but you are still interested in buying the material, you will be able to adjust the terms of your offer and re-submit it. This will open a new ‘Pending’ offer in your Dashboard.

5. Offer accepted

If you receive an email saying ‘Your Bid Has Been Accepted’, this means that the seller has reviewed your offer, accepted your terms, and is agreeing to sell you their commodities.
